Ski Touring is the ultimate way to travel around the mountains and my favourite thing to do in the winter. It is a such a diverse sport in itself with options ranging from: short skins to reach untracked snow, 1000m+ day tours that traverse mountains, technical ski mountaineering peaks and multi-day ski tours where you stay in mountain huts.
The early part of the winter presents opportunities for day touring in the Aosta Valley, the Evasion area in Val Joly and the Aiguille Rouge. Often these provide good powder skiing.
In the mid-season with longer days and a deeper snowpack we van get higher into the mountains and enjoy some of the more technical cols and peaks in the Mont Blanc massif.
Late March-early May is classic hut to hut ski touring season. There are many famous tours such as the Haute Route, the Tour Soleil and Silvretta, however there are also many less famous(and busy) journeys I would be happy to guide you on.
Blue sky powder touring with Monte Bianco in the background. Great skiing above the Bonnati Hut, which is easily reached from Chamonix.
Tour du Soleil. A stunning 6 day trip through the mountains.
